Zielsetzung:

The course introduces the participants to the protocols and their architecture in UTRAN. Procedures and concepts of all radio protocols from layer 2 on and the UMTS specific protocols on Iub and Iur and Iu will be explained.

Medium Access Control protocol (MAC)

Radio Link Control protocol (RLC)

5. 

Radio Resource Control protocol (RRC)

Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP)

7. 

Iu interface control plane protocols SCCP and RANAP

8. 

Iu interface user plane protocol (Iu UP)

9. 

Iub interface: Node B Application Part (NBAP)

10. 

Iub interface: Frame Protocols (FP)

11. 

Iur interface: Radio Network Subsystem Application Part (RNSAP)

Discussion of selected UTRAN procedures
   

Voraussetzungen:

The participants need general knowledge of signaling protocols and should have pre-experience with GSM signaling, WCDMA basics and ATM.
