Target audience

This course has been developed for people dealing with UTRAN for planning, diagnosis, optimization and maintenance.

   

Objectives

Smartphones introduce several challenges to the networks in which they operate. They have to be always on while the battery consumption has to be kept to a minimum. Often they are used for services like Instant Messaging, Skype, Facebook and so on, which are characterized by frequent signaling transfer, but low effective user data. On the other hand WCDMA signaling has been originally developed for applications like web browsing with low signaling and high user data transfer. This course gives information, how such challenges can be solved and which solutions have been proposed by 3GPP.
